Trade and Economy Minister, Nicholas Nahhas, inaugurated on Wednesday the second Iranian Exhibition “Made in Iran”, an event which the Caretaker Minister touted as an occasion to promote relations and interests between Lebanon and the Islamic Iranian Republic.
I-loubnan reported that the opening of the Iranian Exhibition, which is being held at BIEL from May 8 till May 21, witnessed the attendance of senior Lebanese figures and dignitaries including the National News Agency Director, Laure Sleiman Saab.
“This exhibition provides an additional opportunity to boost Lebanese-Iranian trade relations, not to mention enhances cooperation opportunities,” Nahhas said, who also wished for the activation of the Lebanese-Iranian business council.
In turn, the Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon, Ghazanfar Roknabadi, did not sound satisfied with the size of trade exchange between Lebanon and Iran in 2012, which he said only mounted to $115 million.
“We expect to see bigger financial figures being drawn in the horizon, reaching $1 billion in trade exchange between both countries,” said Roknabadi, hoping these big figures would be reached in the near future.
